Nice upset Europa League finalists Ajax, qualify for Champions League Playoff Round

A stunning result for Nice in Amsterdam this evening, with Les Aiglons securing a 2-2 draw against Europa League finalists Ajax that saw them prevail on the away goals rule (3-3 on aggregate) in their Champions League third qualifying round tie.

OGCN were the only French side in action in the third qualifying round, with champions Monaco and second place Paris Saint-Germain already guaranteed of a spot in the group stages.

Souquet and Marcel were on target at the Amsterdam Arena for Nice- their goals came in the 3rd and 79th minutes respectively.

Nice’s opponents in the next round will be one of Sevilla, Napoli, Liverpool, Sporting Lisbon or CSKA Moscow, with OGCN being an unseeded team in the league route part of the playoffs. Continue reading

Ligue 1 Team of the Season 2016-17 Official- UNFP Team of the Year 2017

The Ligue 1 Team of the Year 2017, as voted for the UNFP has been officially revealed. PSG, who had eight players in the 2015-16 Team of the Season, have only three players in the 2016/17 edition- an indication of how tightly fought Ligue 1 has been this season.

Monaco have been the surprise packages in France this season- they look set to dethrone PSG and also reached the ladt four of the Champions League. No surprise then that ASM dominate the UNFP Team of the Season with 6 players- Subasic, Sidibe, Glik, Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Mbappe all feature in the list.
