Nancy promoted to Ligue 1 after 1-0 win over Sochaux

Marseille fire Michel Gonzalez- Franck Passi to take charge temporarily

Struggling Olympique Marseille have fired coach Michel Gonzalez and have put assistant coach Franck Passi in charge for their remaining games of the season, including an important midweek French Cup tie against Sochaux.

Marseille are winless in their last eleven Ligue 1 games and are just six points above the drop zone.

Ligue 1 to have relegation-promotion playoff from 2016-17

The LFP (Ligue de Football Professionel) have announced the reintroduction of the relegation-promotion playoff from the upcoming 2016/17 season. The playoff will see the 18th place team in Ligue 1 take on the third place team from Ligue 2 over two legs, with the first leg played at the home stadium of the Ligue 2 outfit, with the Ligue 1 team then taking over as hosts for the return leg.
