Presnel Kimpembe called up to French national squad to replace Mangala

Young PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe has been called up to the senior national squad to replace Eliaquim Mangala. The latter was himself an injury replacement for Jeremy Mathieu but a thigh injury has forced the Valencia defender out of the squad.

Kimpembe has made the most of his opportunities at the beginning of the season with the club and is talks for a contract extension. Both Liverpool and Chelsea were reportedly interested in his services but he chose to stay with the Parisians.

Apart from his France U21 caps, Kimpembe also made an appearance for DR Congo at U20 level, but will obviously not be able to play for them if Deschamps chooses to blood him against either Bulgaria or the Netherlands Continue reading
