Marseille fire Michel Gonzalez- Franck Passi to take charge temporarily

Struggling Olympique Marseille have fired coach Michel Gonzalez and have put assistant coach Franck Passi in charge for their remaining games of the season, including an important midweek French Cup tie against Sochaux.

Marseille are winless in their last eleven Ligue 1 games and are just six points above the drop zone.

Ligue 1 to have relegation-promotion playoff from 2016-17

The LFP (Ligue de Football Professionel) have announced the reintroduction of the relegation-promotion playoff from the upcoming 2016/17 season. The playoff will see the 18th place team in Ligue 1 take on the third place team from Ligue 2 over two legs, with the first leg played at the home stadium of the Ligue 2 outfit, with the Ligue 1 team then taking over as hosts for the return leg. Domino’s Ligue 2 from 2016/17- Pizza giant to sponsor France Ligue 2 for four seasons

Ligue 2 now officially has a new sponsor in the form of pizza giant Domino’s, who have struck a deal with the LFP to sponsor the French second division championship for four seasons beginning 2016/17 (till the end of the 2019/20 season). Domino’s title sponsorship deal is reportedly worth 1.5m million euros a year, according to reports from those in the know.
