Renato Sanches on loan to Marseille/Monaco?- OM and ASM said to be interested

Ligue 1 clubs Marseille and Monaco are said to be interested in taking Portuguese starlet Renato Sanches on loan next season. The Euro 2016 winner’s development at Bayern has stalled this season owing to limited opportunities under coach Carlo Ancelotti, who has mostly preferred to back experienced players, and a move to France could revitalise his career.

Champions League semifinalists Monaco, who are also likely to feature in the CL next season, with the 2016/17 Ligue 1 title all but in their grasp, would be an attractive destination for Sanches, who would’ve been greatly encouraged by seeing the way Anthony Martial and Kylian Mbappe were developed by ASM. Twin disappointments for French clubs in Europe as Monaco and Lyon lose

Twin disappointments for the last two remaining French clubs in European competition as AS Monaco and Olympique Lyonnais lost the first leg of their respective competition’s semi-finals. Monaco went down 2-0 at home to Italian champions Juventus, with Gonzalo Higuain doing the damage for the visitors.

Lyon’s chances of making it to their first ever European final also look slim after a 4-1 loss to Ajax Amsterdam. Mathieu Valbuena’s away goal gives them a glimmer of hope, but few would bet against Ajax reaching their first final since 1996 at Parc Olympique Lyonnais next week. Continue reading

Monaco keep French flag flying high in Europe

Ligue 1’s only representatives left in Europe, AS Monaco, stayed on course for a spot in the last four after beating Borussia Dortmund 3-2 at the Westfalenstadion.
