Player Ratings Monaco vs Brugge 2018 | ASM out of Champions League after 4-0 defeat

AS Monaco bowed out of the Champions League after a disappointing 4-0 defeat at home against Belgian outfit Club Brugge. The result saw ASM stuck at the bottom of Group A with a single point to show for their efforts after four games. With Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund both on nine points, there is no way for the Principality outfit to qualify for the Round of 16.

Tuesday evening’s result saw new manager Thierry Henry’s struggles continue- he is yet to win as coach and the club are winless in their last fifteen games across all competitions.

Check out the player ratings for the game from French paper L’Equipe. Bar Sofiane Diop (5) and Moussa Sylla and Diego Benaglio (4 each), all the others were rated 3 or below. The worst ratings (2/10) were reserved for the defensive pair of Kamil Glik and Jemerson, while manager Henry also got a 2. Three French players in European Team of the Week

Nimes dominated the Ligue 1 Team of the Week, with more than half of the team drawn from the side that beat Dijon 4-0.

Nimes left midfielder Denis Bouanga, who netted a brace in that win, has also found himself named in Italian paper Gazzetta’s European Team of the Week. Bouanga is one of three Ligue 1 representatives in GDS’ XI, the other beings Nantes’ Emiliano Sala and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos. AS Monaco sack Jardim after dreadful start to 18-19 season

AS Monaco have officially parted ways with manager Leonardo Jardim after a poor start to the season that saw ASM sit third from bottom in the league table before the international break. Monaco won the league in 2016-17 and finished second in 2017-18 behind PSG, but have been inexplicably poor this season, winning only one of their nine games so far.

While Jardim’s successor has not officially been announced, it is widely expected to be former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who recently rejected an offer from Championship club Aston Villa to be their new manager.

Video Wisla-ASM Highlights 2018 | Monaco lose 5:4 on penalties to Wisla Krakow

Monaco were beaten 5-4 on penalties by Polish outfit Wisla Krakow in a friendly as they continued with their preparations for the 2018/19 season.

With World Cup stars like Falcao, Glik and Tielemans not available for selection, ASM played Benaglio, Grandsir, Raggi, Jemerson, Serrano, Ghezzal, Faivre, N’Doram, Lopes, Bongiovanni, Guebbels in the first half. The likes of N’Gakoutou, Diakhaby, Boschilia, Badiaschiie, Diop, Isidor, Navarro, Toure and Mboula also got a hit-out in the second half.

Isidor scored ASM’s only goal of the game on 60 minutes after Pietrzak had put Wisla ahead in the 6th minute.

Boschilia, Navarro, Mboula and Diakhaby scored in the penalty shootout for ASM, while Toure missed. Wisla nailed all five of their penalties. Continue reading
