Deschamps announces France squad for September European qualifiers ; Umtiti & Lacazette dropped

World champions France have released their squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Albania and Andorra. Despite several key players like Kylian Mbappe and N’Golo Kante injured and others like Samuel Umtiti and Alexandre Lacazette not chosen, this still remains a strong French squad.

Interestingly, compared to old rivals England, who have 23 of their 25 playing at home, Deschamps has selected only five home based players and two of them (PSG’s Areola and LOSC’s Maignan) are goalkeepers. The three outfield players plying their trade in Ligue 1 and selected in the national squad are Lyon’s Leo Dubois, Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder and Lille’s Jonathan Ikone.
