France to face Republic of Ireland in the Round of 16

France will play the Republic of Ireland in the Round of 16 after the latter beat Italy last night to book their spot in the Round of 16 as one of the four best third placed teams.

The game between France and Ireland is the first meeting between the two teams since a controversial goal from Thierry Henry sealed Les Bleus’ passage to the 2010 World Cup.

The fixture will take place in Lyon on 26 June, with the winner advancing to a quarterfinal against the winners of England-Iceland.

Group A’s runners up, Switzerland will take on Poland in St.Etienne. Albania and Romania both failed to qualify.
