There wasn’t much to separate between Toulouse and Paris Saint-Germain in this fixture, but the league leaders emerged victorious thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s strike. Mbappe got a 7 from the French media for his work during the game as did defender Marquinhos, who had a goal disallowed.

There were several Paris SG players below par- Choupo-Moting, Paredes and Nkunku to name a few.

The average rating for both sides tells a story in its own- TFC as a team got 5, while Paris Saint Germain got a 5.3. Not much to differentiate between the two teams, but in top league footy, the margins are small.

Ligue 1’s first game after the international break saw Lyon travel to Roazhon Park to take on Rennes. Bruno Genesio’s men edged the clash 1-0 thanks to a 86th minute goal from Martin Ferrier, who had come on as a second half sub for Moussa Dembele.

Several players didn’t rise up to the level you’d have expected them- Nabil Fekir got a 3, while Ismaila Sarr was only able to get a 4. The other big players in OL’s lineup didn’t fare well either- Depay and N’Dombele both got 4’s, while Dembele was given a 3.

The result means that OL have now moved within a point for second placed Lille, although LOSC do have a game in hand.

Lyon and Rennes will again do battle a few days later in the French Cup at the Groupama Stadium.

As the end of the 2018/19 Premier League season draws to a close, the rumour mill is once again in overdrive. With the relationship between the top flights of England and France seemingly as healthy as ever, here are five names who could move from Ligue 1 to the Premier League this summer

Nabil Fekir – Lyon to Liverpool

Equally adept in a ‘number ten’ role as he is up front, Fekir’s all-round style fits Jurgen Klopp’s high-tempo setup like a glove. While his links to Anfield in the last two transfer windows have come to nothing, he is now in the prime of his life, and remains an unmissable target.

While Reds fans have been utterly spoilt this season for entertainment, a true agent of centric transition between the middle of the park and the 18-yard box has been needed at times. While Gini Wijnaldum’s tireless work rate is impressive, his efforts can prove fruitless if the likes of Naby Keita and Fabinho are struggling for form.

The (very) occasional mediocre midfield performances from Liverpool, such as those seen in Liverpool’s drab derby draws at Old Trafford and Goodison Park, would be consigned to the past with Fekir’s arrival. Thus, whether the ribbons on the trophy are red or sky blue this spring, Liverpool need fresh blood in midfield, and a real driving force, to keep themselves amongst the top flight’s elite. Here is the Ligue 1 Team of the Round for Game Week 29. There are plenty of new faces in this GW29 TOTW- only four of the eleven named have made it to a TOTW before. The best player in the XI was Argentina’s Angel di Maria, whose fantastic performance against Marseille saw him make it as PSG’s only representative.

Round 29 lasted across four match days. It began with Nice’s 1-1 draw against Toulouse on Thursday and ended with PSG’s 3-1 triumph at home over Marseille. Only one game was goalless (Angers v Amiens), and that fixture saw two Amiens players in the form of Gurtner and Gouano earn TOTW nominations. Monaco’s fine win away at Champions League chasing Lille got nominations for the troika of Ballo-Toure, Jemerson and Adrien Silva.

The team and the coach of the week both came from St Etienne, whose fine 5-0 win over Caen saw them leapfrog Reims in the league standings.

Angel di Maria starred for Paris Saint-Germain, orchestrating a 3-1 win for Thomas Tuchel’s side against southern rivals Marseille. Di Maria was the star of the show according to these ratings from L’Equipe, who gave him a 9/10. The only Marseille players to escape with any level of credit were goal scorer Valerie Germain and winger Lucas Ocampos. PSG’s poorest player on the evening was Layvin Kurzawa, who got only a 4.

No player from either side got an 8, indicative of how far ahead of his teammates AdM was on the pitch. He scored two of PSG’s goals with Mbappe also finding himself on the scoresheet.
